Margarita Mamun is a successful Russian individual rhythmic gymnast with a bright sports career, Olympic champion, multiple World and European champion.

She is the current record holder under the 20-point judging system with the highest All-around total of 77.150 points, which she scored at the 2016 Baku World Cup.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

  • At the age of seven, she started going to the gymnastics section. Began to prepare for a career as a gymnast from eleven.
  • As a junior, Mamun competed in a number of international tournaments. She was coached by former rhythmic world champion Amina Zaripova. Irina Viner-Usmanova was the head coach of Mamun in the Russian national team.
  • Three-time All-around champion of Russia in rhythmic gymnastics (2011, 2012, 2013), as well as two-time silver medalist of the national championship (2014, 2016). 
  • In 2013, she was appointed the leader of the national rhythmic gymnastics team.
  • Four-time winner of the Summer Universiade (2013), champion of the I European Games 2015 in Baku, multiple winner of the Grand Prix and World Cup series 2013-2016.
  • At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, she won the gold medal at the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around competition.

At the end of the 2016 season, Margarita decided to suspend her sports career. On November 4, 2017, Margarita announced that she has completed her competitive career in rhythmic gymnastics.
